Lost or Stolen Passports

If you have lost your British passport or have had it stolen, you must first report this to the local police and obtain a police report. When you apply to replace the passport, you must submit the C1 application form or C2 application form , the LSO1 form , and the police report. Ensure that the form is then countersigned by a person of suitable standing. You should also include any evidence of identity you may have, preferably photo ID.

A new British passport can only be issued after extensive checks have been carried out to verify the issue details and the holder’s identity. We cannot, therefore, guarantee that a passport issued in replacement of a lost and stolen passport will be completed within the standard ten working days processing time. If you need to travel home immediately, you may obtain an Emergency Passport, valid for a one-way trip only, from the nearest British Consulate. To do this you will need to fill in one LSO1 form , available from all Consulates, C1 application form or C2 application form , and take with you a Police report (denuncia) and two passport size photographs. If you have any other form of photographic identity, you should also take that. When you receive your passport it is always a good idea to note down or make a photocopy of the passport details and save them somewhere safe just in case it is lost or stolen.
